A thought of the summer

I am going to try and get this blog going over the coming week.

I a going to start with a an interesting thought that I read somewhere over the summer:

People contrast human- and God-centred religion often. But a true understanding of humanity, the image of God, should point to God. There is nothing wrong with being human-centred in our religion because it does not exclude being God-centred. Both God and humanity should be at the centre of our lives, but not some false vision of either. They are not rivals for our affection. This point is beautifully summed up by Jesus:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matt 22)

Among other things I think this leads to a correct view of 'social justice', and a God-exhalting view of creation.
