The most influential person in my life is me

"You are the most influential person in your own life. you talk to yourself more than anyone does. What are you saying to you about you?" (Paul Tripp)

So, what are you saying? Is it helping you grow? Is it true?

Also, just because it is true that you are the most influential person in your life that doesn't mean you have to blithely accept that.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones and Martin Luther develop things further.

  1. It's funny - try as hard as I might to make Jesus the most influential person in my life, my ego always sneaks back up and makes it about me again!

  2. Yes. It's difficult. I suppose our comfort is that in the most important sense Jesus is the most influential person in our life whether we suceed in our attempts to make him so, or not. If we have faith in him, he will ensure that our minds our renewed by the power of his Spirit to be conformed to his (so we speak Christ's words to ourselves). He is king, whether we crown him or not. And that is great news for the believer.
