(HT Tim)
"I long for your salvation, O Lord,
and your law is my delight.
Let my soul live and praise you,
and let your rules help me.
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
for I do not forget your commandments."(Psalm 119:174-176)
"I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,
but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!"(Romans 7:22-25)
Both passages include:
- delight in the law; and
- a realisation of our failure to keep it.
After this common starting point:
- The OT passage includes a prayer to be delivered.
- The NT passage includes thanks that we have been delivered.
