If Romans was a very obedient church (as I suggest in my previous post) and Paul was concerned to justify 'his gospel' against detractors (as I suggest here), perhaps large swathes of Romans are written to show that Paul is not an antinomian, and not just Romans 6. However, while he is keen to show this he remembers his experience with the Galatians and wants to make clear that obedience is 'of faith', and this means that obedience must take into account that Jesus has come and so obedience is to what James calls 'the law of liberty' and Paul 'the law of faith'.
